LSU’s offense gets a lot of the headlines for last night’s 42-25 victory over Clemson in the national championship game. But the Tigers defense forced a high-powered Clemson offense to punt nine times as the other Tigers were 1-of-11 on third downs. Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence had won 25 straight games, but last night he was a mediocre 18 of 27 for 234 yards, no touchdowns and he fumbled once.

Patrick Queen had a big game. The junior from Livonia High School had eight tackles, including 2.5 tackles for a loss and he was credited with a half-sack.

Not sure if there were a lot of people watching, but the Pelicans beat the Pistons 117 to 110 overtime last night. Jahlil Okafor had 25 points and 14 rebounds as New Orleans played without Brandon Ingram, J-J Redick and Derrick Favors because of injuries.
