Multiple reports say Saints quarterback Drew Brees will miss at least the next six weeks with a torn ligament in his thumb. The injury occurred as Brees attempted a pass in the first quarter and his hand, hit the arm of Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald. Teddy Bridgewater took over for Brees and failed to lead New Orleans to a touchdown in a 27-9 loss. Coach Sean Payton says Bridgewater didn’t have much help…

The 1-and-1 Saints are already in Seattle as they’ll spend the week there getting ready for Sunday’s game against the Seahawks.

Monday night football tonight. Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham and the rest of the Cleveland Browns will visit the New York Jets.

LSU Quarterback Joe Burrow had another big night in the Tigers 65-14 win over Northwestern State. Burrow threw for 373 yards and two touchdowns and then gave way to Myles Brennan early in the third quarter. The Tigers have been known for their running game, but Burrow says things are different now…

LSU will begin SEC play on Saturday when they visit Vanderbilt at 11:00. The Commodores have struggled to defend the pass. They’ve given up 436 yards passing a game and 510 yards of total offense. So far Vandy has lost to Georgia and Purdue and they are allowing 36 points a game.

Also this weekend, Tulane host Houston for a Thursday night ESPN game. Louisiana Tech will host F-I-U on Friday for its Conference USA opener. ULM heads up to Iowa State, while the Ragin Cajuns are at Ohio. In the Southland, Southeastern Louisiana will host Lamar, while Grambling begins league play as they face Alabama State.
