The next Sugar Bowl will be the latest one in its 90-plus-year history. Because it’s a College Football Playoff Semifinal, it will take place Friday, January 15th, 2027. Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley says while it breaks tradition, it’s for the best.

The Cotton Bowl, the Peach Bowl, the Rose Bowl, and the Fiesta Bowl will make up the four quarterfinal games. The national title game will be on January 25th.

LSU is ranked number one in the USA Today preseason coaches poll. The Ragin Cajuns are picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt preseason poll. Coach Matt Deggs announced that left-hander Ty Roman will start in the season opener against Missouri State. Coastal Carolina is the preseason favorite, followed by Southern Miss, Troy and Marshall. ULM is picked to finish last.

 

Louisiana Tech men’s basketball looks to bounce back from a loss to Sam Houston on Saturday, as the Bulldogs host New Mexico State tonight. Tech is 5-5 in Conference USA play, but head coach Talvin Hester wants his team to continue improving, as anything can happen in March.

The Ragin Cajuns have been playing better, and they are at James Madison. ULM is still looking for its first Sun Belt win. The Warhawks are at Old Dominion.

Grambling hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Northwestern State takes on East Texas A-and-M.

The Pelicans are at Milwaukee tonight. The Bucks are 10-games under the .500 mark.

Today is the start of college football’s late signing period. Former Archbishop Shaw standout Jackson Williams signed with LSU. He’s a three-star safety.
