The next Sugar Bowl will be the latest one in its 90-plus-year history. Because it’s a College Football Playoff Semifinal, it will take place Friday, January 15th, 2027. Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley says while it breaks tradition, it’s for the best.
The Cotton Bowl, the Peach Bowl, the Rose Bowl, and the Fiesta Bowl will make up the four quarterfinal games. The national title game will be on January 25th.
LSU is ranked number one in the USA Today preseason coaches poll. The Ragin Cajuns are picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt preseason poll. Coach Matt Deggs announced that left-hander Ty Roman will start in the season opener against Missouri State. Coastal Carolina is the preseason favorite, followed by Southern Miss, Troy and Marshall.
