At a press conference this morning, LSU introduced New Iberia native and longtime athletic administrator Verge Ausberry as its interim athletic director. Ausberry will lead the search for a new football coach. He’s forming a committee that includes members of the LSU Board of Supervisors and major donors to the athletic program.

Despite the dramatic changes, Ausberry says the LSU athletic program is not broken.

Governor Jeff Landry did not want Woodward to hire the new coach because of the huge buyout that LSU private donors will have to pay to Brian Kelly. Landry made it clear on ESPN’s Pat McAfee show that he will not be involved in hiring the next head football coach…

Louisiana Tech looks to get back in the win column tonight after losing two straight conference games. The Bulldogs host Sam Houston, who is winless this season for their homecoming game. Head coach Sonny Cumbie says sophomore quarterback Blake Baker is continuing to improve as the season progresses.

Here’s the schedule for tomorrow…Southern looks for its second win of the year at Arkansas Pine-Bluff. Grambling hosts Alabama A-and-M. The Ragin Cajuns are at South Alabama in a battle between two teams that are 2-and-6 on the year.

ULM hosts Old Dominion. Nicholls hosts Houston Christian for homecoming. Southeastern faces East Texas A-and-M and McNeese hosts Northwestern State.
