Within the next three months Entergy customers will see a five to seven dollar monthly increase in electric costs. Roughly three and a half dollars of that increase will kick in on your July bill, and Entergy Spokesperson Lea Sabatini says that will go towards a new 869 million dollar St. Charles Power Plant.

The other portion of the bill increase will kick in in September.

The Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality action day today in Baton Rouge and New Orleans due to conditions being favorable for the production of ground-level ozone. DEQ spokesperson Greg Langley says a lack of wind to disperse certain elements contributes to the process.

Langley says higher levels of ozone can be a challenge to those with respiratory issues.

Qualifying for the Governor’s race is a month away, but one political analyst says there may be last minute changes to the dynamics of the race in the near future.  Kevin Barnhart has the story.

Democratic Presidential candidates are headed to New Orleans for to state their case at Essence Fest, a gathering of some of the nation’s most prominent African American cultural and political leaders. Senators Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren and former Congressman Beto O’Rourke will speak Saturday, and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg will speak Sunday.
