LSU Athletics Director Joe Alleva says the elimination of a tax break in the GOP tax reform bills could be disastrous to collegiate athletics. LSU and many other schools require donations to purchase tickets, and Alleva is concerned those donations will go away, if fans can no longer claim 80-percent of the donation as a tax deduction….:

Alleva says LSU receives about 50-million dollars from this revenue stream as reportedly 45-thousand football season tickets require a donation to the school.

According to The Advocate, sources familiar with the announcement by the Governor later this afternoon say a newly formed technology company will be relocating to New Orleans that would bring about 2,000 new tech jobs. Governor Edwards is set to announce details this afternoon at 2pm at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. His office described it as “one of the most significant economic development announcements in Louisiana history.”
