A new poll on the governor’s race released by The Advocate shows Democrat John Bel Edwards’ double-digit lead over Republican David Vitter slipping a bit. According to the survey, conducted by Market Research Insight, Edwards beats Vitter, 52 to 38 percent, if roughly 26-percent of African-Americans vote in the election. Avoyelles Parish Sheriff Doug Anderson says paperwork issues are delaying the release of 23-year-old Norris Greenhouse, Jr. on a $1 million bond. Greenhouse is one of two officers charged in the shooting death of a 6-year-old boy in Marksville. Greenhouse’s father, an Avoyelles Parish assistant district attorney, was arranging to post a property bond for his son using his land. Louisiana law prohibits attorneys from posting bond for defendants.
Early voting for the November 21st runoff continues today. As of this morning, there were 119-thousand early votes, compared to 88-thousand for the same time period in the primary. Pollster John Couvillon of JMC Analytics says larger parishes are early voting heavily…
