On this Veteran’s Day, LSU will induct eight alumni into the university’s Military Hall of Honor. One of the inductees is our current Governor John Bel Edwards, who was a member of the U.S. Air Force. The ceremony takes place today at the Commandant’s Luncheon.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, who is a member of the Senate Finance Committee, unveiled their version of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The proposed legislation would help families and encourage corporations to establish businesses by cutting taxes and simplifying the tax code. Under the reform plan, a family of four would see a tax cut of over 14-hundred-dollars. Cassidy says this plan would assist families far into the future.

Tomorrow is the last day to early vote for the November 18th election, as polls are closed today in observance of Veteran’s Day. Secretary of State Tom Schedler predicts a low turnout again for this runoff election. But he says about 69-percent of voters in Louisiana did get out to the polls last year in the presidential election, higher than the national average.

The only statewide race on the ballot is for State Treasurer.
