A study out of LSU attempts to help solve the problem of childhood obesity. Dr. Amanda Staiano with Pennington Biomedical Research Center says one in two Louisiana kids struggle with their weight. Though he said he didn’t like it, a judge in Baton Rouge ruled to uphold a law that doesn’t let felons on probation and parole vote. State District Judge Tim Kelley said he did feel the mandate was unfair, but that he can not bend the law. The plaintiffs said they plan to appeal.

Cops in St. Bernard Parish say they’re investigating a case where it appears a woman fatally shot her husband and then killed herself in Chalmette early this morning. The sheriff said the woman’s young children were in the home at the time of the apparent murder suicide, but were not harmed.
