The shooter has been identified as 66-year-old James Hodgkinson of Illinois, and the president confirmed the man is dead. Scalise is recovering from a gunshot wound to the hip and is in stable condition.

The price at the pump has been slowing going down in Louisiana. The current statewide average for a gallon of regular stands at $2.14.
