The July campaign finance report shows that Republican David Vitter has more campaign dollars on hand than his three gubernatorial opponents combined. Republicans Jay Dardenne and Scott Angelle report $1.8 million and $1 million in cash on hand respectively, while Democrat John Bel Edwards reports $1.1 million. Despite all of this fundraising activity, Pinsonat says you probably won’t see a lot of ads or activity from these campaigns until after Labor Day.
Governor Bobby Jindal’s Presidential campaign says he’s back on the road after taking a break from touring to help Lafayatte recover from the Grand Theater shooting last week. The 2016 hopeful is traveling to New York for a round of media interviews.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says two men are cited with stealing over 500 alligator eggs worth $10,460. Agents say 24-year-old Christopher Traham of Lake Charles and 47-year-old Paul Canick of Grand Chenier got a slip for illegal possession of alligator eggs and not following regulations. It was determined the men did not have valid permits to harvest eggs at affected nest sites.
