The man who authorities say planned the ambush on police officers in Baton
Rouge, killing three and wounding three others, was seeking justice for the
death of Alton Sterling according to his social media posts. In Gavin Long’s
online postings, he says the best way to handle the shooting of Sterling by

Friends and family members of the Louisiana law enforcement officers who lost
their lives are devastated today as they mourn their loved ones. David St.
Romain is a local singer in Baton Rouge, and good friends with fallen Deputy
Brad Garafola. Romain says Deputy Garafola was the school resource officer at

The other officers who died are 41-year-old Matthew Gerald and 32 year old
Montrell Jackson from BRPD.
A 4-year-old boy was killed in a murder-suicide in Sulphur Sunday night,
authorities said. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s office says it appears 59-
year-old Kenneth Bacque shot his son before turning the gun on himself. They
had received reports that Baque had posted on Facebook that he was going to
kill himself and possibly his 4 year old, and responding authorities arrived
and found the man and his son dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
