A student from Dutchtown High School was killed and four other people were hurt in a head on crash this morning in Gonzales. State Police spokesman Jared Sandifer says for unknown reasons, a car was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic on La 74 near Interstate 10…:

Sandifer says victims are not being identified at this time pending notification of next of kin. The other driver is recovering at a local hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
Congressman Bill Cassidy is back in Washington today to start getting ready for his new role on the Senate side. The Congressman easily defeated Senator Mary Landrieu over the weekend. Governor Bobby Jindal issued an executive order today which mandates that hospitals treating victims of sexual assault directly bill the Crime Victims Reparation Board instead of victims for a list of eligible expenses dealing with their care. The order also extends the amount of time a sexual assault victim must notify law enforcement to be eligible for reparations from 72 hours to 1 year.
