The National Hurricane Center says Danny has strengthened into the first hurricane of the 2015 season. State Climatologist Barry Keim says Hurricane Danny has sustained winds of 75 miles per hour, which is minimum for a storm at this point…:

Keim says Danny is still over 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles and is moving west north west at about 12 miles per hour – so there’s still a lot of ground to cover before it’s any threat to the U.S.

President Obama will be one of many visiting New Orleans next week to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton now say they plan to come as well and meet with residents to honor the city and commend them for beating the odds and coming back after the devastating effects of the storm.

Governor Bobby Jindal has responded to Planned Parenthood and its supporters who are holding a rally this afternoon in front of the governor’s mansion. They are protesting Jindal’s decision to defund the organization. In a release the Governor says he will set up a movie screen and speakers and play on loop the videos which apparently show Planned Parenthood employees talking about selling fetuses.

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a teenager in connection with the stabbing death of his aunt while she was sleeping. Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle says Yolanda Hunter was stabbed many times and died at a local hospital. He says the teen confessed to stabbing his aunt while she was asleep…:
