Among the Crime legislation Governor Jeff Landry signed yesterday is House Bill 5 makes the illegal use of a weapon be designated as a crime of violence, which would lengthen prison sentences for anyone illegally shooting a gun, including shooting into the sky on July 4th and New Year’s Eve. Landry hopes this legislation can reduce gun violence.
