An off-duty Westwego police officer and a woman were fatally shot this morning and the search is on for the shooter, who has been identified as 32-year-old Sylvester Holt. Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand identified the officer as 26-year-old Michael Louviere, who leaves behind a wife and two children…

Normand says Louviere was assisting the woman who was involved in a car crash and they believe the shooter had a relationship with the female victim.

Alexandria Republican Representative Lance Harris has proposed a plan to that would solve the state’s budget deficit without a special session. He says healthcare, K-through 12, and prisons can handle the cuts he’s proposing…

A statement from the governor’s office says Harris’ plan is vague and cuts like this would devastate these agencies.

New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu is considered one of the leading Democrats in the state, and he weighs in on his feelings about the Trump administration. Landrieu says both Republicans and Democrats like President Trump’s proposal to invest one trillion dollars on infrastructure…:

The West Monroe High Band has the honor to perform in today’s inauguration parade. Band director Robert Freeman says students were asked to pay 600-dollars each and they had to do a lot of fundraising in a short amount of time to pay for the trip….
