The state health department has declared a Hepatitis A outbreak as they’ve confirmed 24 cases of hepatitis A, which is a highly contagious liver disease. The illness is spread by consuming contaminated food or beverages, during sex or through close contact with an infected person. The state has received funding to vaccinate at-risk groups, which are drug users and those who are homeless.
