Oil City Representative Danny McCormick introduces legislation that will make employers civilly liable if they force an employee to take a vaccine and that employee suffers health impacts.
McCormick’s bill also holds companies liable if they force you to be vaccinated to use their services.
Lake Charles City Councilman Craig Marks says Congressman Clay Higgins is not addressing the needs of southwest Louisiana residents impacted by two hurricanes last season. Marks feels if Higgins would take a more active role that it would bring attention and funding to the area and speed recovery efforts.
A representative for Higgins says the congressman visited the area two weeks after the hurricane.
It’s one of the biggest crawfish weekends of the year, but LSU AgCenter Crawfish specialist Mark Shirley says he’s not sure if there’s enough to go around this weekend. He says the winter storms during February delayed the growth and harvesting of the state’s favorite crustacean for about a month.
But Shirley says in the weeks to come there will be plenty of crawfish to go around.
