Republican Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murril says there’s nothing in the state’s law that prohibits emergency care for someone having a miscarriage or any emergency situation during pregnancy.

A report from the Public Affairs Research Council finds public school enrollment has declined by five percent over the last four years. PAR President Steve Procopio says the numbers are concerning…

Procopio says a declining population and more parents turning to home schooling are two reasons for the decline.

The state is asking for expansion of harvest opportunities for black bellied whistling ducks. Sportsmen and farmers say these birds need to be better controlled and as they are showing up in larger numbers and earlier in the year and disappear before the regular season begins. LDWF Secretary Madison Sheahan estimates they cause 500-thousand to one-million dollars worth of damage to rice farmers every year…

Sheahan says their letter to the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service asks for the ability to establish harvest opportunities during the early September teal season.

Governor Jeff Landry is in northwest Louisiana today. He’s set to speak at the Bossier City Chamber luncheon at 11:30 and then he’ll attend a ground breaking ceremony for the long awaited Jimmie Davis Bridge replacement project. That bridge connects south Bossier City and Shreveport.
