Senator John Kennedy is blasting LSU President King Alexander, LSU Coach Ed Orgeron, and Governor Edwards for a fundraising event on campus where the football coach appeared to endorse Edwards’ reelection effort.

Kennedy says the move could set a dangerous precedent and taint LSU football’s image.

The Louisiana Survey says 67 percent of Louisiana residents would support raising the gas tax by five cents to pay for road projects and infrastructure repairs. Director of LSU’s Public Policy Research Lab, Dr. Mike Henderson, says it’s a bipartisan public sentiment that reflects the survey’s other revelation that infrastructure is a top two concern for voters.

The report found that when respondents were informed that the gas tax was 38.5 cents when combining local and federal rates, support declined to 61 percent.

Investigators have made an arrest in the shooting of an Abbeville Police Officer. 29-year-old Nashon Ishamael Brooks was captured in Lafayette Parish after following up on many leads. Agencies involved include the US Marshals, LSP, and others.
