A new poll shows an incredibly tight race for Governor, with Governor Edwards and Eddie Rispone tied at 49 percent each. Edgewater Research conducted a similar survey in October after the primary and Edwards had a four-percentage point lead. Edgewater Research pollster Doctor Edward Chervenak says more Republicans participated in this latest survey…

Edgewater ran the tele-robo-poll of 660 likely voters.

It’s been nearly three decades since David Duke ran for Governor, but the former KKK Grand Wizard’s legacy remains a point of contention, even in this year’s gubernatorial run-off. GOP gubernatorial challenger Eddie Rispone called a recent radio ad linking him to David Duke “disgusting”, but Duke says like many Republicans, they now share many of the same policies.

The state broke some daily low records during this morning’s freeze, but good news is State Climatologist Barry Keim says temps will rebound into the low 50s statewide this afternoon.

Bogalusa is now home to the 50 bed Woodlake Addiction Recovery Center, which may be able to help over 1,000 patients a year in one of the areas hardest hit by the opioid epidemic. Bogalusa Representative Malinda White says it’s sorely needed as Washington Parish has a ten times higher rate than the national average of babies born with addiction, and  the crisis hits Bogalusa particularly hard because of widespread poverty in the area, so having access right in the city is a major boon.

The Parish holds the unfortunate title of having the most per capita opioid-related deaths as well.
