The candidate sign-up period for Louisiana’s October 24th election officially ended at 4:30 Thursday afternoon. The Secretary of State’s Office says almost 2,100 candidates statewide qualified for the 1,150 state and local offices up for grabs in the election. A total of 494 candidates across the state were elected automatically when no one signed up to run against them.
