State Police say a Breaux Bridge man is under arrest charged with attempted manslaughter of a St. Martin Parish Deputy. They say the deputy observed 22-year-old Donald Clement Jr. in what is believed to be illegal narcotic activities. As the deputy approached Clement’s vehicle, the suspect took off with the deputy hanging onto his car. The deputy fell from the vehicle just before it crashed into a fence. The officer was transported to a local hospital with severe injuries.

Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden is the fourth person to qualify to become the state’s next Lieutenant Governor. So far Holden is the lone democrat in the field that features three republicans, Elbert Guillory, Billy Nungesser and John Young. All four candidates are from south Louisiana, but Holden says he’ll campaign hard to get votes from north Louisiana…

Holden is a former state legislator and has served as the mayor-president of East Baton Rouge Parish since 2005.

Louisiana gets its first taste of fall this weekend as a slow moving cold front will move across the state. National Weather Service Forecaster Freddie Zeigler says as far south as Alexandria and Baton Rouge could see temperatures in the upper 50s…
