A New Orleans police officer is dead following a shooting early this morning. Reports indicate the officer was 29-year-old Marcus McNeil died after he was transported from the scene in the eastern side of the city. NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison says four officers were patrolling the area. They are still investigating what exactly happened…

The suspect is in custody at University hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds he received in the incident.
The Humane Society of Louisiana is offering a $1,200 reward for information about the person who hung a cat alongside a Baton Rouge building. Animal Control retrieved the cat after witnesses made the report, and vets later determined that the animal was alive prior to its asphyxiation. Anyone with information on this disturbing incident is urged to contact authorities.
