Baton Rouge Police are seeking a murder suspect after police say he fatally shot his ex-girlfriend. 52-year-old Robert Antione is accused of killing 41-year-old Monique Maxie over the weekend. The victim was taken to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.

State officials are going door to door to tell flood victims about the state’s flood recovery survey and the homeowner assistance program. Pat Forbes with the Office of Community Development says many people don’t think they will qualify for assistance, but that’s not the case.

Beginning this month, children with incarcerated parents can get backpacks full of school supplies through the Louisiana Corrections Association’s Kits for Kidz program. Vice President Angela Whittaker says these kids are thrilled when they get their backpack full of goodies.

$15-thousand worth of supplies will be handed out this year.
