Mike the Tiger’s habitat is under going some major renovations at LSU. Weather permitting the, nearly one million dollar improvements should be complete around this time next month. In the habitat, a new high tech rock has been installed to provide a warm surface in the winter and keep the tiger cool in the hot summer months. Donations through the Tiger Athletic Foundation paid for the upgrades.

 

The long term rate of wetland loss in Louisiana is slowing, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Research Geographer Brady Couvillion says research discovered that coastal restoration efforts are paying off when it comes to saving wetlands.

The report does point out that these findings do not indicate that coastal wetland loss has ceased to be a serious issue.
