More information is being distributed to the public about Louisiana’s safe haven law, which allows parents to legally give up a baby until they’re two months old. Department of Children and Family Services Secretary Suzy Sonnier says she wants people who feel like they’re in a crisis to know this law exists:

Safe Haven sites include hospitals, public health units and ems, fire or police stations.

Baton Rouge Police say the father of a 3 month old infant, who died over the weekend from injuries related to blunt force trauma, could face charges in her death. They say 28-year-old John Hope brought the baby to the hospital last week with life threatening injuries and told a story doctors didn’t feel added up. Hope was charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile at the time and additional charges are expected.

New research suggests that disturbed sleep may cause an increase in the chances of getting Alzheimer’s Disease. Scott Carwile reports…:

Baton Rouge food blogger and radio host Jay Ducote will be competing for the title of Food Network Star in the show’s finale on August 16th. Three finalists made their own cooking show pilot in last night’s episode and Ducote made crawfish etoufee over fried catfish in his showcase dish. The pilots will be judged and the big winner, who will get their own show on the network, will be announced at the end of this Sunday’s finale.
