Trooper Melissa Matey says Captain Brandon had to walk under the road about a half a mile in the swamp to get to the dog then troopers lowered an ice chest and hoisted the animal to safety. she says if if you witness someone dumping animals please let them know…:

State Police say a woman was run over and killed while attempting to cross Highway 165 south of Monroe shortly after 1:30am. They say 36-year-old Masaylin Green was pronounced dead on the scene — she was wearing dark clothing. The driver of the car, 22-year-old Tommy Coleman, was cited for speeding, no driver’s license and no license plate on the vehicle.
