Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the death of 40-year-old Donovan Brooks in Bienville Parish. Sheriff John Ballance says they believe Brooks was killed in a gruesome dog attack. He says they seized 26 dogs from the home.

A Black Bear hunting is set to return to Louisiana December 2024. LDWF Large Carnivore Program Manager John Hanks says it will be limited 16 days and ten tags. The limit of ten was chosen with the belief that if those killed were all female it would not destabilize the state’s Black Bear population.

The estimated Black Bear population in Louisiana is 1,200.

Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour tomorrow night. Daylight Saving time ends and standard times begins until March 10th. Healthcare providers say the time change of gaining an hour tends to be easier on the body in the fall verses losing an hour in the spring. But remember it will be much darker on the drive home from work Monday so prep to be extra focused especially in construction zones.
