A Louisiana legend has passed away. LSU says Billy Cannon died peacefully Sunday morning at his home in St. Franciscille. Cannon led LSU to a national championship in 1958 and won the school’s only national Heisman Trophy in 1959. Cannon had a fall from grace in the 1980s when he was convicted on counterfeiting charges and served two and a half years in prison.

New Orleans will reportedly be awarded as a host city for Super Bowl 58 in 2024. An official presentation will made on Wednesday at the NFL owners meeting in Atlanta. New Orleans is the only city that’s been asked to bid on the Super Bowl for that year. The Big Easy has hosted the game 10 times, but hasn’t hosted the big sporting event since 2013.
