There is a tropical depression in the Atlantic, but forecasters do not anticipate it becoming a Tropical Storm.

U.S. Majority Whip Steve Scalise from Jefferson Parish is back in the ICU and listed in serious condition at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. His doctors have new concerns over infection after undergoing several surgeries for a gunshot wound.

An Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Deputy has been injured and a man is dead after an officer involved shooting in Mamou. State Police Trooper Scott Moreau says the deputy responded to a call of an attempted burglary after 4 o’clock this morning. He says the officer confronted 27-year-old Dejuan Guillory and an altercation occurred between the two.

The deputy is in stable condition.

Four children have died in a rash of drownings in Tangipahoa Parish, the latest was a two-year-old boy found unresponsive in a pool. Mona Michelli with the department of children and family serivces division of child welfare says parents with small children should learn CPR and know the signs of drowning….
