Today marks 7 months since the governor has been sworn into office. Jeremy Alford with LaPolitics.com says Edwards has carved out a place for himself in the record books since day one.

Alford says even with everything stacked against him, the governor has never taken his eyes off the goal of being reelected.

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine is in New Orleans today, but political analyst Clancy Dubos says the goal is probably to raise more money than votes because republican candidate Donald Trump’s poll numbers are holding strong in the South, despite falling nationwide.

Dubos says if Trump’s numbers continue to decline, the Democrats could have a chance of winning the Bayou State.

A flood watch is in effect for several southeastern Louisiana parishes through Friday. Andrew Ansorge with the National Weather Service in Slidell says some areas will see upwards of 10 inches of rain.
