By naming Governor Landry special envoy to Greenland, President Trump is once again ramping up efforts to wrest the island from Denmark. In a social media post thanking Trump, Landry said, in his words, “It’s an honor to serve you in this volunteer position to make Greenland a part of the U.S.” Denmark says it’s deeply upset by the move.

Data center mania has gripped Louisiana, with construction getting underway on one in Central Louisiana this month. Colleen Crain reports.

On Christmas Eve, dozens of bonfires will be lit along the banks of the Mississippi River. St. James Parish President Pete Dufresne says the lighting of the bonfires is a tradition that has gone on for centuries.

The majority of the bonfires takes place on the east bank, starting on the levees of Gramercy and making their way to St. John the Baptist Parish.

And on New Year’s Day, it will be Georgia and Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl. Ole Miss won its way there Saturday with a 41-10 win over Tulane. Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley says Georgia fans have become somewhat accustomed to making the trip to New Orleans to ring in the new year through the years.

The two teams met in Athens October 18th, with Georgia winning in a shootout, 43-35.
