A Daddy Daughter Dance was held at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola. Daughters wore beautiful dresses and danced and dined with their tuxedo-clad fathers. Jake Bodine, the founder of God Behind Bars, who organized the event says it’s important for the inmates and for the daughters of the inmates.

A 45-year-old man from Raceland was fatally shot while hunting in Lafourche Parish. The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s office says Garret Verdun was hunting with a friend when a rifle discharged while the two were handling it. Verdun was shot in the head and died as a result. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is assisting with the investigation.
