House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Metairie told Chuck Todd of NBC’s Meet the Press that he opposes new gun control legislation. Scalise was seriously wounded last June when a gunman opened fire on group of lawmakers getting ready for a charity baseball game. Scalise says there are already limits on gun ownership and believes those laws need to be enforced.

Former Governor Buddy Roemer has released a memoir through University of Louisiana at Lafayette Press called Scopena a Memoir of Home. It tells the story of his childhood and growing up on a on a cotton plantation in Bossier Parish. Roemer says his father gave he and his siblings great guidance during the Civil Rights Movement….
