Louisiana’s gubernatorial primary is October 24th.

There are concerns Louisiana travelers may need another form of picture ID in 2016 because the state is not in compliance with the federal REAL ID Act. State Police Col. Mike Edmonson with the REAL ID act, immediately upon arrival at an OMV, all documents must be scanned and a picture is taken.

An officer involved shooting in St. Bernard Parish has left one man dead. Authorities say the suspect attacked a Sheriff’s Office deputy with a railroad spike during a traffic stop. They say another deputy, who responed to a call for backup, shot and killed the attacker. The injured deputy was treated and released from a local hospital. The State Police investigation is ongoing.
