Forecasters are watching a disturbance over the extreme southwestern part of the Caribbean Sea that is now Tropical Depression No. 16, according to the National Hurricane Center. They say the system should move into the Gulf of Mexico by Saturday, but there is a lot of uncertainty at this point, but it’s definitely worth watching.
Louisiana is set to receive 55-million dollars in federal grant money to improve the reading and writing skills of struggling students. State department of education spokesperson Sydni Dunn says this will accelerate the learning of all students reading below grade level…:

Police records indicate the LSU fraternity pledge who died last month may have consumed an excessive amount of alcohol as a result of a drinking game. According to court papers, Phi Delta Theta pledges went through an initiation ritual called “Bible Study” the night before 18-year-old Maxwell Gruver was pronounced dead. If the pledge didn’t answer a question correctly about the fraternity, they were forced to drink.
