The governor’s race is not the only statewide race heading to a runoff next month. In the Lt. Governor’s race, Democrat Kip Holden will face off against Republican Billy Nungesser. The state attorney general will also be decided by runoff. Incumbent Buddy Caldwell and fellow Republican Jeff Landry will square off November 21st.

Edwards won the primary with 40-percent of the vote, while Vitter placed second with 23-percent.
Alexandria Police has arrested a 12-year-old in connection with a shooting death over the weekend. They say when officers responded to the scene, they found 29-year-old Courtney Honore lying in the street. Honore was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities say it appeared Honore suffered a single wound from an air pellet type weapon. The juvenile was arrested and charged with negligent homicide. The 12-year-old was described as an acquaintance of Honore.
