With the news out of Dallas of the first confirmed case of Ebola in the United States, state officials are taking action to ensure Louisiana is ready for any potential threat. Eric Gill reports…:

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says an electrical short in an extension cord is probably what caused a mobile home fire that claimed the lives of a husband and wife in Campti. They say 68-year-old Florence Berguin and her husband 70-year-old John Berguin were pulled from their burned residence in Natchitoches Parish and pronounced dead.

There’s a delightful cold front moving through the state that will first bring rain, but then the first cool temperatures of autumn. CS Ross with the National Weather Service in Shreveport says the front will bring in much needed rain but once it moves through we can expect sunny skies and great weather across Louisiana for the weekend…:

He says they do not expect any tornadic activity with the front, although you can’t completely rule that out.

Two teachers from Destrehan High School are facing felony charges for allegedly being involved in a “three-way tryst” with a 16-year-old student. The suspects are 32-year-old Shelley Dufrense and 24-year-old Rachel Respess. Kenner Police Chief Michael Glaser says the investigation started in St. Charles…:

Both teachers have been suspended without pay. There is reportedly video going around of the encounter. The case continues to be investigated.
