A former Louisiana State Trooper has been sentenced to one year in jail for taking confiscated drugs and selling them. Ronald Thomas faced up to 20 years in prison on payroll fraud and drug charges. However, a judge reduced the sentence to one year with five years probation and 240 hours of community service. Although some are unhappy with the judge’s decision, an appeal of the sentence appears to be unlikely.
