Some parishes in southeast Louisiana are under a flash flood watch this evening through Friday morning. Andrew Ansorge with the National Weather Service in Slidell says the anticipated heavy rains are a result of a system that’s been slowly moving across the northern Gulf of Mexico since last weekend…:

Ansorge says this system should taper off Saturday and possibly into Sunday.

The Department of Health says Louisiana has received $19.5 million dollars in a FEMA grant to help communities that are still recovering from devastating floods this past spring. It will fund work for about 1,575 families in 36 parishes.

Governor John Bel Edwards and other New Orleans officials say there is an additional $10 million dollars to begin work on a flyover ramp that will link I-10 to the Louis Armstrong International Airport in Kenner.
