St. Tammany Parish sheriff Randy Smith released more details about the early Monday shooting near Slidell — in which a homeowner killed a 22-year-old on the homeowner’s property. The shooter said Seth Flores was acting erratically. The sheriff said Flores’ girlfriend backed up those claims.

The sheriff said at this time, no charges have been filed, and the case will be reviewed with the district attorney’s office.

Researchers at the University of Vermont believe eating hot chili peppers could help you live longer, which is good news for Louisianans who love their spicy foods. Dr. Benjamin Littenberg says they found it could have something to do with an ingredient in the pepper- capsaicin:
