The State Department of Education says nearly 30,000 comments have been posted on its online portal from people about possible changes to Common Core in Louisiana. Sanford says the first public hearing on possible Common Core revisions is set for August 19th.

A recent Center for Disease Contol report suggests that Louisiana’s average school start time of 7:40AM is too early for kids. They recommend schools start their day at 8:30AM or later. State Police say an infant is dead after a single vehicle crash in Morehouse Parish. They say 23-year-old Shatora Hall of Bastrop lost control of her vehicle, ran off the road, and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to roll on its side. 1-year-old Aniyia Worsham, who was riding in the lap of a front seat passenger, was ejected from the vehicle. Worsham was transported to a local hospital where she died. The child was the only person in the vehicle who was not restrained. The investigation is ongoing.
