Baton Rouge Representative Steve Carter filed legislation Tuesday that would raise the state’s gasoline tax by 17 cents. He says the measure would create about $510 million dollars annually for Louisiana’s roads and bridges. House Bill 632 also prohibits DOTD from using the gas tax revenue for operational costs.
