State transportation secretary Shawn Wilson says there’s been a significant and alarming increase in crashes in a construction zone on I-10 between I-49 and the Atchafalaya Basin. DOTD spokesperson Deidra Druihlet says drivers need to stay alert and pay attention to lane shifts.

She says drivers can expect to see more police in the area and they’ll also put a solid line through the construction zone to deter lane changes.

Cleco is sending teams to Georgia to help with potential power outages caused by Hurricane Irma. Spokesperson Jennifer Cahill says Cleco is part of the Southeastern Electric Exchange, which offers restoration support after major outages.
