ESPN has released its preseason NFL power rankings, earlier this week, assembled by over 80 panelists considering what all 32 franchises have to offer. They’ve settled on the sensible 1-2 ranking of last year’s Super Bowl contenders – the victorious Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots – followed by a surprise to probably everyone but fans of the black and gold: the New Orleans Saints at 3.
In NFL action last night the Washington Redskins defeated the New York jets 15-13 in Landover Maryland. Washington Kicker Dustin Hopkins made 5 field goals in the victory including a game winner at the buzzer for the win.
In foxborough Massachusetts it was a rematch of last year’s super bowl with a different outcome. New England defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 37-20 in week two of preseason. Superbowl mvp nick foles left the game in the second quarter after he was stripped of the ball from fifth round draft pick ja Whaun Bentley who took the ball 54 yards for a td.
In Green bay the packers beat up on the Pittsburg steelers 51-34 as Aaron Rodgers played just on series connecting with former New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmie Graham for an 8 yard touchdown. It’s the first time Rodgers has played in Lambeau field in nearly a year.
