5th District Congressman Vance McAllister apparently does not have the support of the “Duck Dynasty” family as he seeks re-election this fall. Phil Robertson reportedly took some jabs at McAllister at a couple of events over the weekend. A federal grand jury in Alexandria found a Las Vegas man guilty of kidnapping and murder of a 12-year-old girl. Thomas Sanders was declared dead two decades ago then resurfaced as a murder suspect in 2010 when the remains of 12-year-old Lexis Roberts were discovered in woods in Catahoula Parish. The case will now move to the penalty phase of the trial when the same jury will decide whether Sanders should be put to death or serve life in federal prison.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a 40-year-old Pineville man is dead after a confrontation with officers from the Pineville Police Department. RPSO Lt. Tommy Carnline says Pineville Police received a 9-1-1 call Monday morning claiming a subject had threatened another person with a weapon and officers responded to the scene…:

He says the officer fired and hit the subject to stop his advance. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The case is under investigation.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office says a man from Belle Rose is under arrest on domestic abuse charges for allegedly strangling a woman then trying to run her over with his car early Monday morning. He say 48-year-old Herman Knockum is booked with domestic abuse aggravated assault, domestic abuse batter and driving while under a suspended license.
