If you lived in an area that flooded this year, you can expect a rise in your car insurance premium. That’s according to Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon. He says in the August flood event, there were 60-thousand flooded vehicles that will be paid for by insurance companies…:

He says people who live in areas that did not experience any flooding will not see the rate increase.

FEMA announces an extended deadline for Louisiana National Flood insurance Program policyholders affected by the August floods to file proof-of-loss claims. You now have 120 days from the date of your loss to file a flood insurance claim if you’re a Louisiana NFIP policyholder.
