The Louisiana Democratic party is bashing Governor Bobby Jindal over his speech yesterday at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington D.C. calling for a strengthening of the US military. Chairwoman Senator Karen Carter Peterson says instead of increasing federal military funding, she’d rather hear Jindal explain why he cut hundreds of millions of Louisiana’s higher education dollars…:

The US Department of Agriculture announces a Colorado based biofuels company receives a $91 million loan guarantee to build a processing plant in Alexandria. Biofuels are seen as critical to the country’s energy future. Cool Planet broke ground on the Alexandria facility earlier this year. CEO Howard Janzen says their company not only manufactures biofuel, but also a product called “Cool Terra”…

The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s office says a woman is under arrest on animal cruelty charges for allegedly trying to throw puppies away. They say cops were called by a witness saying they’d seen the woman, who was wearing a blue dress, commit the crime…

31-year-old Christie Lasyone of Ball was arrested and charged with three counts of cruelty to animals. Lt. Tommy Carnline says a deputy rescued the puppies and returned them to their rightful owner.
