New Orleans Police say one of their own was shot and killed while on routine patrol just after midnight. The accused shooter was also shot and injured.

The Humane Society of Louisiana is offering a $1,200 reward for information about the person who hung a cat alongside a Baton Rouge building. Animal Control retrieved the cat after witnesses made the report, and vets later determined that the animal was alive prior to its asphyxiation. Anyone with information on this disturbing incident is urged to contact authorities.
